Buying property? OrangeTee ties with Carousell to let you review property agents in Singapore
OrangeTee & Tie‘s Business Conference 2018 was held on 23rd March, Friday. Having taken place at Suntec Convention centre, this year the annual event also marked a special partnership between OrangeTee & Tie with one of Asia’s biggest and fastest growing mobile classified platforms, Carousell, to make real estate more accessible to Singaporeans.
Transforming Together in the Digital World
This year’s conference, themed ‘Transforming Together in the Digital World’, centred on embracing the idea of digital innovation in the property industry. The conference highlighted on the need to leverage on technology for development and innovation, as well as Orange Tee & Tie‘s ongoing efforts to harness digital means to find new ways of delivering value to their consumers as part of their customer-centric approach.
The conference saw a number of VIP and keynote speakers including Desmond Lee (Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development), Kenneth Siow (Google Cloud Asia’s Head of Strategic Account Management) and Lee Na Jia (Head of Research at ET&Co S.E.A). Siow gave a speech on “Transforming Work with Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics”, while ET&Co’s Lee covered on the property trends and market outlook for 2018.
Gracing the event was Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development.
In his speech, Minister Lee spoke about how the real estate industry can continue to grow and prosper by embracing digital innovation. Mentioning the emergence of many property-related online portals and services disrupting traditional players in the real estate services sector, Lee added that these fast paced changes have been driven by two factors – a major shift in consumer preferences towards more efficient online services, and the lower costs of collecting, storing and processing big data.
Urging the need to embrace the shift towards digital-driven innovation, Lee added, “Property agencies in Singapore also need to embrace this shift towards online and data-driven services. They should find new ways of delivering value to customers, by relentlessly and constantly innovating. In short, property agencies must transform.”
Lee then commended OrangeTee & Tie for making important moves in the right direction, being a first mover in engaging customers digitally in the estates agency industry, and encouraged the company to build on their efforts as they continue to innovate and transform.
Teaming with Carousell on property listings
OrangeTee‘s decision in entering this strategic partnership with Carousell was aligned with the Real Estate Industry Transformation Map to embrace innovation and strengthen professionalism. Bringing agent reviews and listings to Carousell’s marketplace, the strategic move was made as part of an effort to reach out to a new generation of mobile-first consumers and property seekers. Among Carousell’s many users who buy and sell underused items on a regular basis, many users aged 25 and above are also now turning to the platform for big-ticket items including cars and property.
Steven Tan, managing director of OrangeTee & Tie said, “Consumer consumption habits continue to evolve, and even for big ticket items such as property, they are turning to digital tools first. OrangeTee & Tie agents need to think about what their customers want, and adopt multiple digital touchpoints to connect more effectively with prospective buyers and sellers.”
Quek Siu Rui, Co-founder and CEO, Carousell, found that property is a growing category on their platform, and was excited for Carousell to be working with OrangeTee & Tie, believing that the partnership would offer “our community of buyers and sellers more transparency, and empowers them to make more informed decisions when working with agents. OrangeTee & Tie also brings even more options to prospective property buyers with the addition of all their agents’ listings.”
The partnership will expand to bring 4,050 OrangeTee & Tie agents onto the platform and more than 9,000 agent reviews on Carousell over the next three months. Property Agents Review, a review portal that allows customers to review and rate its property agents, will be integrated with Carousell‘s existing user feedback system. The partnership will also enable over 20,000 listings on the platform, on top of the current 10,000 properties already listed on Carousell. Users on the platform will be able to browse verified agent reviews and property listings to get a better view of potential property transactions with better confidence and clarity.
The collaboration was designed to empower users to make smarter and better informed decisions when purchasing real estate through better transparency, with hopes to give property seekers on the marketplace a greater peace of mind when when engaging with agents.
In fact, each property agent will have their own landing page. Allowing each agent to build on their personal brand, it would show crucial information such as the agent’s track record and past reviews that will help consumers make better decisions. Tan believes that on utilising the platform, OrangeTee & Tie’s agents will be able to bring more value to consumers, “Our agents can be ‘friendly advisors’ to Carousell users, rather than just engaging with them in the usual transactional way.”
In an interview with ZUU online, Tan assured me that the verified reviews on the Property Agents Review portal are not filtered in any way, which means that customers will not be shorthanded with inaccurate agent reviews. Being customer-centric and keeping transparency in mind, Tan is even open to the idea of other partners and trusted reviews expanding onto the platform, believing that any move that that would benefit the consumers in general would a step in the right direction, seeing that it would be in line with their goal to minimize the asymmetric information gaps in the industry and help consumers be well-informed.
With OrangeTee & Tie‘s customer-centric goal, strong culture and proven track record for innovation, we believe that with the partnership, they are well poised to compete and succeed as they continue to embrace innovation and technology in the future economy.
