Asia is home to 60% of the world’s population, and some of the largest and fastest growing economies.
The great Asian civilizations of China and India have histories going back many centuries. However, it was not until the post-war period, that much of the wealth of Asia today was created.
So just who are the current crop of wealth-creators, or billionaires of Asia? This article looks at the top 10 richest people in Asia, in ascending order of wealth:

Coming in at No.10 on the list is Lei Jun, 45, with a net worth of around $14.4 billion. He earned his immediate fortune in telecoms after founding Xiaomi, a smartphone vendor, in 2010.
He is a highly successful serial entrepreneur and investor, so may well rank even higher on the list, as soon as next year.

Dilip Shanghvi, 60, made his name and fortune in the pharmaceuticals industry. Dilip started working at his father’s wholesale drugs business after graduating from the University of Calcutta.
The pharmaceutical company which he founded with a $1000 loan from his father, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, is currently the 5th largest in the world.
