Shoppers at Orchard Road dwindling
The retail establishments offer the ultimate shopping and dining experience to both locals and tourists. Interestingly, the shopping district still sees a substantial number of tourists and shoppers who visit. This is despite some reports alleging that the district is no longer a shopper’s paradise. People still have affection with what Orchard Road has to offer.
If you think shopping is costly on Orchard Road, you have not tried parking. Interestingly, most of the boulevard is teeming with high-end real estate that leaves little space for parking. In this light, the few available spaces are very costly.
Interestingly, there are areas you will pay for parking fees equal to a parking violation penalty. This is a very high amount considering the amount you will spend in the shopping malls. Singaporeans usually joke that if you can afford shopping at ION Orchard shopping mall, you can afford the parking fees.
Nonetheless, there are a few places available that will offer parking spaces for considerably low fees. However, there are terms that you must understand to avoid unnecessary inconveniences.
Every parking spot has different rates for different hours. For instance, you will pay a different amount for a parking space before 5/6 pm in some areas. In the same areas, you will get different rates after the given time.
Essentially, the difference in the prices is as a result of the population at the shopping boulevard. In particular, the parking fees will depend on the nature of the hour; if the hour is peak for shoppers or off-peak.
Here are some of the cheapest parking spots you could consider.
Far East Plaza
The shopping mall is located in the nerve centre of the Orchard Road shopping district. Far East Plaza opened to the public in 1982. Also, the mall included a Metro that whisked shoppers in and out of Orchard Road for convenience. However, the Metro is no longer operational.

Interestingly, the mall has a knack for playing up the tastes of the young population. Every shopping season, they flock the precinct as they shop for their favourite brands of everything.
